At Madomaru, we offer cartonnage lessons ranging from basic techniques of this traditional French craft to advanced projects featuring Yoneori textile.

Beginners are warmly welcome. Come discover the joy of creating something beautiful with your own hands, immersed in the rich weaving culture of Yamagata.

Trial Lesson

A single-session lesson for those trying cartonnage for the first time. You'll make a small box using Yoneori Komon. Materials included; booking required.

From ¥3,500 (materials included)

Basic Course

A four-session course for learning the fundamentals of cartonnage. You'll create practical pieces such as a lidded box, a tray, and a tissue-box cover.

From ¥24,000 (4 sessions, materials included)

Yoneori Advanced Course

For Graduates of the Basic Course

An advanced course designed to explore the unique qualities of Yoneori textile through complex projects, including frames, shaped boxes, and expressive creations.

Group Lesson

Madomaru offers group workshops for cultural centres, organisations, and private events. We welcome groups of three or more. Please contact us for details.
